The first snow of 2016 fell on the mountains leaving a small 11 inch dusting. Pictured is Mount Mansfield where Stowe Ski Resort is. This is the Underhill side as seen from Lake Champlain's northern islands.

A cliff rises
Tucked deep in the Groton landscape is Turtle Head pond. Miles of dirt roads need be driven when coming from the town of Marshfield and those roads necessitate four wheel drive in the spring and winter. But the journey is worth it to find Mount Marshfield peaking through the evergreens to expose the fall colors running it's sides.
Emerging from the Missisquoi River
After paddling down the Missisquoi River you can either head to Canada or explore more of Vermont's Missisquoi Bay.
